奈良美智
美術家Yoshitomo Nara / Artist
1959年青森県生まれ。1987年愛知県立芸術大学修士課程修了。1988年渡独、国立デュッセルドルフ芸術アカデミー在籍終了。ケルン在住を経て2000年に帰国。1990年代半以降からヨーロッパ、アメリカ、日本、そしてアジアの各地で規模に関わらず様々な場所で展示発表を続ける。見つめ返すような印象的な絵画、日々自由に描き続けるドローイング作品のほか、木、FRP、陶、ブロンズ、そしてインスタレーションなど多様な素材や空間に生命を吹き込む様な彫刻作品を制作。また、制作の日々や旅先での出会いを収めた写真作品も発表している。
作品はニューヨーク近代美術館、ロサンジェルスカウンティー美術館、ボストン美術館、ナショナルギャラリー（ワシントンD.C.）、大英博物館（ロンドン）など世界中の美術館に所蔵される。
近年の主な個展に「Yoshitomo Nara」（ロサンゼルス・カウンティ・ミュージアム（アメリカ）／ユズ・ミュージアム（上海、中国）、2021-23年）「YOSHITOMO NARA. ALL MY LITTLE WORDS」（アルベルティーナ近代美術館（オーストリア）、2023年）「The Beginning Place ここから」（青森県立美術館（日本）、2023-24年）など。2024年夏からはビルバオ・グッゲンハイム美術館から始まるヨーロッパ巡回展が企画されている。
