Takuya Onuki was born in Tokyo in 1958. On graduating from the Department of Graphic Design of Tama Art University in 1980, he joined Hakuhodo Inc. He went freelance and founded Onuki Design in 1993. Mr. Onuki has worked on brand communication campaigns for a wide range of clients and brands, including: Toshimaen amusement park, Nissin Food Products ("Cup Noodle"), Laforet Harajuku, Shinchosha Publishing ("Yonda?" promotional campaign), PepsiCo (Pepsiman mascot), Shiseido (TSUBAKI product line), and SoftBank. He is the winner of numerous awards, including: Tokyo ADC Award, Members' Award and Members' Grand Prize (1981, 1986, 1987, 1989-2002, 2007, 2018); Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival Grand Prix (1992) and Gold and Silver Lions (1993, 1994, 1995); (New York) ADC Gold Prize (1992) and Silver Prize (1992, 1993); Mainichi Design Award; and Mainichi Advertisement Design Grand Prize.
