Head of studio-L. Professor at Kyoto University of Art and Design. Involved in creating communities that allow residents to solve issues in their neighborhoods. Has written books including "Community Design" (Gakugei Publishing), "Social Design Atlas" (Kajima Institute Publishing), "Age for Community Design" Chuokoron-Shinsha, and "Happiness Theory of Cities" (NHK Publishing). Received the Good Design Award in 2012 for the studio-L IGA office, the "shinsai hajimari techo" (disaster pocket diary), Brillia Residence Rokko Island.
