Graduated in 1979 from the Department of Design at the Tokyo University of the Arts. Finished graduate course at the same univeristy in 1981. After working at Dentsu, set up the Taku Satoh Design Office in 1984. His wide-ranging works include package design such as for "Lotte Xylitol" chewing gum and "Meiji Oishii Gyunyu" milk, and symbol marks such as for the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa. Was also in charge of designing the logo, signs and furniture for the Musashino Art University Museum and Library. Has also been a supervising director for the "Jomonese" exhibition at the National Museum of Nature and Science, and the "Design A" program on the NHK educational channel. Has written books including the "Anatomy of Design" series, and "The Whale was Spewing Water."
