Media artist. Born in 1987 in Tokyo. Studied media art at the University of Tsukuba (Media Art and Sciences) and earned a doctoral degree in applied computer science at the University of Tokyo. (Completed the program at the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies in the shortest term of two years). Assistant professor at the University of Tsukuba since 2015. Interested in the potential of multimedia that goes beyond images, his studies are based on his vision of a "digital nature"; he seeks to express himself by using "computational fields" (computer generated holograms) and by restructuring the boundaries of images and materials. Certified as a Super Creator by the Information-technology Promotion Agency (IPA). Has received numerous domestic and overseas awards including World Technology Award 2015, and Prix Ars Electronica, the prestigious award given in the field of media art.
