Lidewij Edelkoort is one of the world's most renowned trend forecasters and colorists. She is famous for her inspirational seminars and on-point trend books, which are sold to companies in diverse industries, from fashion to food, and interiors to technologies.
Her company, Trend Union, founded in 1980, has been forecasting and providing the trend information in the fields of fashion, color, textile, lifestyle, and architecture. They release the information and perspectives ahead of time before anybody does in the world. The book by Trend Union, consisting of quality handmade samples and beautiful photos with accurate descriptions, serves as the best tool to capture the trend and is distributed semi-annually to the clients to help them with their creative work.
She is an intuitive thinker and a world traveler. She first perceives how the country's social trend will affect the concepts, colors, fabrics, products, and services, then communicates her findings, which are processed into a more comprehensible form, with her clients. In this respect, she is a publisher, anthropologist, educator, and curator. In 2010, she directed Post Fossil at 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT. She continues to work as a curator for exhibitions in different parts of the world to showcase the designs that need our special attention. Her achievements in the educational field are also notable. She spent ten years since 1999 to build Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands to be the most prestigious design institute in the world. Today, she is introducing the hybrid of textile designs and technology at Parsons School of Design as the Dean of the Master of Fine Arts in Textiles and nurturing the young talents for the promising future of fashion.
