Architect. Associate professor of architecture and civil engineering at Chiba Institute of Technology. Born in 1966 in Tokyo. Graduate of Waseda University. Studied at AA School (Architectural Association School of Architecture) and worked at Itsuko Hasegawa Atelier before setting up his own design firm Atelier IMAMU in 2002. Teaches at many universities in Japan and abroad, serving as adjunct professor at the graduate school of University of British Columbia, and as adjunct lecturer at the graduate school of the University of Tokyo and the graduate school of Shibaura Institute of Technology. Works include "House in Jingumae", "Corridor" apartment in Oimachi, Fuji Futaba Kindergarten, Bike sheds at the Australian Embassy in Tokyo. Author of "Gendaitoshi rironkogi (Lectures on the theory of modern cities)", co-author of "Nihon interia dezain shi (History of Japanese interior design), translator of Anthony Vidler"s "Histories of the Immediate Present: Inventing Architectural Modernism". Editor-in-chief of JIA (The Japan Institute of Architects) MAGAZINE.
