Media artist and artistic director of Ars Electronica Festival. Born in 1964. Launched a workgroup called x-space in 1991 and has made interdisciplinary works in interaction, robotics and telecommunications. Assumed post of artistic director of the innovative artistic event Ars Electronica Festival in 1995. Working as the "brain" behind Ars Electronica, has established research facility Futurelab and is responsible for drawing plans for the Ars Electronica Center.
