1964年熊本県生まれ。放送作家、脚本家。日大芸術学部放送学科在籍中に放送作家としての活動を開始。テレビ番組での代表作に、「カノッサの屈辱」「料理の鉄人」「ニューデザインパラダイス」など。映画脚本を手掛けた「おくりびと」は、第81回アカデミー賞外国語映画賞、第32回日本アカデミー賞最優秀作品賞を樹書した。著書に『考えないヒント』『いのちのかぞえかた』『人生食堂100軒』など。現在、東北芸術工科大学デザイン工学部企画構想学科学科長、同大教授。N35inc・株式会社オレンジ・アンド・パートナーズ代表。

Born in 1964 in Kumamoto Prefecture. Broadcast writer and script writer. Started working as a broadcast writer when a student at Nihon University College of Art's Department of Broadcasting. His major works for television include "Humiliation of Canossa", "Iron Chef" and "New Design Paradise". Wrote the screenplay of "Departures" (Japanese title: "Okuribito") which won the 81st Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film of the Year, and the 32nd Japanese Academy Prize for Best Picture of the Year. Has written books such as "Kangaenaihinto" (Hints for not thinking), "Inochi no Kazoekata" (Ways to count life) and "Jinseishokudo 100 ken" (100 eating facilities of my life). Currently head of the Project Design Department at Tohoku University of Art and Design's School of Design where he also teaches as a professor. Head of N35 inc. and Orange and Partners Co.
